Merak-Sakten Tour

This tour gives you a very good glimpse into all of Bhutan by taking you from western Bhutan all the way to the rural east to the Merak and Sakten regions. Merak and Sakten were recently opened up to visitors. This tour includes a short trek from Merak to Sakten to give you a first hand look into this isolated region in the east and into the lives of the nomadic life of the locals there.

The trek takes you through the Sakten Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to endangered species like the snow leopard and red panda, and other animals like the Himalayan red fox and the Himalayan black bear, and to the isolated Brokpa tribe. This trek offers a window into the most secluded regions in Bhutan!
