The Haa Summer Festival from July 9th – July 10th, 2012 showcases traditional living along with nomadic lifestyles in Bhutan. The festival also offers a demonstration of different Bhutanese cuisines, unique artifacts, traditional sports such as archery and darts, religious performances (masked dances), traditional dances, and an exhibition on Nublang (sacred and unique cattle in Haa).
Program:
Day 1, July 6th, 2012: Arrive Paro, Paro – Thimphu (~1 hour drive)
Arrive Paro International Airport. Our representatives will receive you at the airport and drive you to Thimphu. Check in at your hotel in Thimphu.
In the evening, visit the National Memorial Chorten.
Overnight: Thimphu (Hotel Riverview)
Day 2, July 7th, 2012: Thimphu sightseeing
Visit the Thimphu Weekend Market, the Folk Heritage Museum, the National Textile Museum, Changangkha Lhakhang, the Motithang Takin Sanctuary, Semtokha Dzong, Buddha Point, and Tashichhodzong.
Overnight: Thimphu (Hotel Riverview)
Day 3, July 8th, 2012: Day excursion to Punakha (~3 hours’ drive), Punakha sightseeing
En-route, stop at the Dochu La Pass and visit the 108 miniature chortens, Chhimi Lhakhang, and Punakha Dzong.
Overnight: Thimphu (Hotel Riverview)
Day 4, July 9th, 2012: Thimphu – Haa (~4 hours’ drive), Haa sightseeing
After breakfast, drive to Haa. Attend the Haa Summer Festival.
Overnight: Haa (Hotel Rigsum)
Day 5, July 10th, 2012: Attend Haa Summer Festival, depart for Paro (~1.5 hours’ drive)
Attend the Haa Summer Festival, visit Lhakhang Karpo Nagpo.
Depart for Paro.
En-route, visit Dobji Dzong.
Overnight: Paro (Nak-Sel Resort)
Day 6, July 11th, 2012: Paro sightseeing
Visit the Ta-Dzong (National Museum), Rinpung Dzong, Kyichu Lhakhang, the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong, and Dungtse Lhakhang.
Overnight: Paro (Nak-Sel Resort)
Day 7, July 12th, 2012: Excursion to Taktshang Goemba (Tiger’s Nest)
Hike to the legendary Taktshang Goemba (Tiger’s Nest).
Overnight: Paro (Nak-Sel Resort)
Day 8, July 13th, 2012: Departure
Drive to the Paro International Airport where our representatives will bid you farewell!
