Sakten Tours and Treks is one of the oldest tour companies in the kingdom of Bhutan. The founder of Sakten, Tsewang Rinzing was instrumental in the establishment of the tourism industry in the country in his capacity as a member of the Department of Tourism in the 1970s. Sakten is a family-owned business handed down from father to daughter, Thinley Dem who is the Managing Director of the company. Tsewang still sits as the Chairman of the Company. Handing over the day to day operations to his daughter allows him the time to follow his other passion, which is to volunteer his time to community service. A percentage of his proceeds from Sakten contributes to his donations to the following CSOs that he is involved with:
Rotary Club of Thimphu – President (2016 – present)
Bhutan Amateur and Athletic Federation – President (2008 – Present)
Cancer Society of Bhutan – Board Member (2015 – Present)
Thinley does not see Sakten as just a business but sees it as her family and gives it the same care and attention as she would her family! The clients of Sakten receive that same care and attention from not only her but all of the Sakten family!
